“lovely little gem so close to the Queen E theatre”

4 of 5 starsReviewed April 8, 2013 NEW

I stayed for one night and decided to save $ and do the shared bathroom. The room was small by North American standards, but very clean, fresh paint and the shared bathrooms were plentiful. Bathrooms have been redone and are stylish with lots of tile and plenty of hot water for shower. Front desk staff were an international crowd and very pleasant and friendly and helpful. All in all, a delightful find in Vancouver. Its also very easy to get to from the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal by bus, a great feature for Vancouver Island visitors.

“More than meets the eye”

4 of 5 starsReviewed April 8, 2013 NEW

Great value for a very centrally located hotel. Over the past several years the owners have done a fantastic job of updating the rooms, several at a time. The larger, deluxe king rooms offer lots of space, stylish furnishings, and have excellent beds. The hotel has a very comfortable European pensionne feel to it. The hotel also has a number of very affordable traveler rooms (with shared common bathroom). Have stayed in these before and they are equally well appointed, just smaller and lacking private bath. If you are looking for a unique place to stay, with loads of character, give this a try. Great food options to be had in the immed vicinity, with Finches (directly across the st) offering the finest sandwich to be had in downtown Vanc. Nuba is a great lunch or dinner destination and a bundle of fine cafe's to be tried (revolver, jj bean, 49th parallel).

“A good low-budget solution”

The hotel was undergoing some reconstruction during our staying, but it looked promising :) The works should be finished by the end of spring and it'll look very nice :)
Our room (one of the "suites" with bathroom included) was big, clean and comfortable.
Plus, the hotel is in a great position, close to almost everything in Downtown.

Our only problem was the breakfast, we didn't like it, but there's a great restaurant right in front of the hotel (Finch's) that served amazing breakfasts.

“Game day accommodations”

4 of 5 starsReviewed April 7, 2013 NEW

After being unable to book a room at my regular hotel, I searched and came across the Victorian Hotel.
Reservations were made and my request for a room with en suite bath was easily made with the assistance of staff.

The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but was extremely clean.
Our room was very clean, comfortable and reasonably priced for such a large, comfortable suite.
My only issue was the parking, or lack thereof.

But the staff were helpful with providing locations to park and we found that Easy Park lot (3) at 535 Richards was the best value - $9.35 for hours.

All in all, it was a great place to stay and I look forward to coming back again to stay when time and finances allow.·

     “Loved staying here!”

·         We loved staying here! It was classy, had character, including a suit of armor (!), and they upgraded us for free when we arrived. The staff was friendly and the rooms were beautiful. I would travel back to Vancouver just to stay here again. It was in a perfect location, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the steam clock, and not too far from the port where our cruise ship was leaving from the next day. Highly recommend!

·         Room Tip: It was nice having a room with its own private bathroom.

“Cool Unique Character”

4 of 5 starsReviewed February 27, 2013

A treat to find a funky old gal like this in the heart of Vancouver. Great location to base a trip out of - easy walking distance to any spot in the area.

I had a king room, en suite that was spotless clean, with fluffy towels and super comfy bed. The character comes from the hardwood floors, the crown mouldings and the unique furniture. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast substantial for a continental type.
Great dollar value in a city that is not known for deals.

“Charming Hotel”

5 of 5 starsReviewed February 27, 2013

I just stayed at the Victorian Hotel in Vancouver. The location was great for walking around with lots of resturants nearby. The rooms were warm and well appointed and sparkling clean shared bathrooms. It was the kind of intimate charm I like to feel when visitng a new city; so much more compelling that the huge homogenized hotel chains nearby.

·     "A GEM OF A PLACE" reviewed 4 January 2013

I stayed at the Victorian Hotel as my last overnight in North America before heading back to Austrailia. It was recommended by a local as a good place to stay. They weren't wrong! The bed in 201 was fantastic. This was an impressively comfortable, big bed in a stylish "Victorian" Room. The room was clean, shower was fantastic and complimentary toilettries of high quality. The hotel is located in a fantastic part of town that allowed me to have a whirlwind lap of a number of "interesting" local establishments before having to meet my friend and head to the airport. Breakfast was included, had a lovely thick yogurt, fruit and tea. Coffee was there with cereal and muffins etc. I'd happily stay there again, only for a longer time.

"Home away from home- 3 visits always welcoming " reviewed 9 January 2013

We spent six nights at the Victorian. The improvements had continued over the last two years. Again our accommodations were impecable with a deluxe room on the 1st floor and those same wonderful linens and king size bed and toiletries. Our sister and friend had a room    on the 2nd floor that had 2 standard beds and a quaint sitting area. This time we utilized the hotel's bicycles. We rode from the hotel to and around Stanley Park then back to the hotel. This is a easy cycle path once your off the busy Pender Street and the park/city has wonderful scenery. We have found The Victorian Hotel to be conveniently located and reasonably priced.

We highly recommend this Hotel as a one of a kind experience and we keep coming back to welcoming arms.

"Excellent, clean, quiet hotel in  good location" Reviewed 5th December 2012

I stayed for a week at the Victorian Hotel, and this is the first time I have ever been prompted to write a review. The hotel is an excellent choice, it is inexpensive, and located in a perfect location downtown to get to most of the sights. The staff were extremely helpful, and i was upgraded to a room with a bathroom for no extra cost.  I also requested a room on the ground floor due to having a bad back and this request was met with no complaints. The rooms are spotless and I would definitely recommend it. The only improvement I could suggest is that breakfast is held until 10am (not 9am) as this is early while you're on holiday! Thanks Victorian, it was a great stay.

"European-Style Hotel is Fabulous!" Reviewed 27 November 2012

My daughter and I spent two nights at the Victorian when we were in Vancouver to see the Paul McCartney concert. The concert was spectacular and we loved this hotel.

The location was great, close to Gastown with all its great restaurants and cool shops, close to Robson for more up scale shopping, within easy walking distance of B.C. Place for the concert. The hotel has old world charm, with original fir floors, high ceilings and quirky antique furniture in the common areas. It is a old building, and it shows some signs of a long life, but this gives it so much of its charm. If you want the boring conformity of new builds, stay in the suburbs. The service was friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable and charming, and very clean, with a great modern bathroom. Continental breakfast is included and is plentiful and tasty. And this place is so affordable. We'll be back!!

In Chatelaine Magazine's 'Wellness Special' February issue, the Victorian Hotel is highlighted in an article titled 'Bright Lights, Cool City.'
For a quaint stay, the modest but modernized Victorian Hotel, one of the city's original guest houses, will outfit you with a classic country bike for about $30 a day.
